Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, Ondangwa, which is approximately 200 km away from Wolwedans. Take the B1 road south towards Outapi, and then continue on the C35 road towards the direction of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Follow the signs leading to Wolwedans. The last stretch will be on a gravel road, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for such terrain. The journey will take around 3-4 hours, depending on road conditions.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transport, you can take a bus from Ondangwa to Windhoek. From Windhoek, you will need to find a shuttle service or taxi to take you to the NamibRand Nature Reserve area. Be sure to confirm the availability of shuttle services ahead of time, as they may not run frequently. Once you reach the reserve area, you will likely need to hire a 4x4 vehicle or arrange for a local guide to take you to Wolwedans. The total travel time may vary greatly, possibly exceeding 6-8 hours.
Taxi or Ride Share
If you prefer a more direct route from Ondangwa or Windhoek, consider hiring a taxi or using a ride-sharing service, if available. This option provides convenience but can be costly. Expect to pay between N$2000 to N$3000 for a one-way trip. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand and confirm that the driver is familiar with the area leading to Wolwedans.
Use Wolwedans as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
