If you are traveling by car, rent a vehicle in Windhoek or Swakopmund. From Windhoek, take the B1 highway south towards Rehoboth, then switch to the C24 heading towards Sossusvlei. The drive takes approximately 4-5 hours. Once you arrive at the entrance of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, pay the entrance fee (around NAD 80 per person). Continue on the C19 road for about 45 km until you reach the Dune 45 parking area. From there, you can either walk to the dune or join a guided tour.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take a bus from Windhoek to Sesriem, which is the nearest town to Sossusvlei. The bus ride takes around 5-6 hours and costs approximately NAD 250. Once in Sesriem, you can hire a shuttle service or a local taxi to Dune 45. The shuttle may cost around NAD 200 per person for a round trip. Be sure to check the shuttle schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently.
