To reach Messum Crater, start by renting a 4x4 vehicle in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. Ensure to have a good map or GPS device since cell service may be limited. From Windhoek, take the B1 road north towards Okahandja, then continue on the B2 towards Swakopmund. About 100 km from Windhoek, look for the C26 road that leads towards the west. Follow the C26 for approximately 70 km until you reach the D1930. Turn left onto the D1930 and drive for about 20 km. The entrance to Messum Crater will be on your right. Note that the roads can be quite rough, so a 4x4 is recommended.
