Car
From Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, take the B1 highway north towards Okahandja. Continue on the B1 until you reach Otjiwarongo, where you will turn onto the B2 highway east. After approximately 210 km, turn left onto the C38 road towards Rundu. This road will lead you towards the northeastern part of Namibia. As you approach Rundu, follow the signs directing you to the B10 road. Continue on the B10 until you reach the junction with the C49, where you will turn left. Follow the C49 for about 100 km until you arrive at the entrance of Mudumu National Park (WG3G+C39, Muneambuanas). The drive should take about 12 hours, so plan for an overnight stay along the way or break the trip into two days.
Public Transportation
To reach Mudumu National Park using public transportation, start from Windhoek and take a bus to Rundu. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey typically takes around 14-16 hours. Once in Rundu, you will need to arrange for a private taxi or shuttle service to Mudumu National Park, as public transportation options may be limited. Be sure to negotiate the fare with the taxi driver beforehand, as prices can vary. This last leg of the journey is approximately 100 km and may take another 2-3 hours.
Private Taxi or Shuttle Service
If you prefer a more comfortable and direct route from Rundu, consider booking a private taxi or shuttle service. This option allows for a more flexible schedule and direct travel to the park. You can arrange this service through local hotels or tour operators in Rundu. Expect to pay around N$800 to N$1,200 for the round trip, depending on the vehicle and number of passengers. Make sure to confirm the details in advance, including pickup times and any additional costs.
