Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Omaruru, head south on the main road (B1) towards the direction of Karibib. Continue straight for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach the fork in the road. At the fork, take the left path which continues on the B1. This road will lead you through the scenic landscapes of Namibia. After about 20 kilometers, you will see signs for Karibib. As you approach Karibib, look for the rest area sign on your left. The Okahandja-Karibib Rest Area (Rest Area9) is located at the coordinates 3V86+2C, which is a well-known stop-off point for travelers. The walking distance from Omaruru to this rest area is approximately 25 kilometers, so be prepared for a long trek.

• Bicycle

  Start from the center of Omaruru and cycle south on the B1 road. Maintain your course straight for about 5 kilometers. When you reach the fork in the road, veer left to stay on the B1. Continue cycling for approximately 20 kilometers, enjoying the beautiful Namibian scenery. As you near Karibib, keep an eye out for the signs indicating the rest area. The Okahandja-Karibib Rest Area (Rest Area9) will be on your left. The total distance from Omaruru to the rest area is around 25 kilometers. Ensure your bike is equipped for a longer ride.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  From the center of Omaruru, locate the bus station where you can find buses heading towards Karibib. Board a bus that is headed for Karibib, ensuring to inform the driver of your destination. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on stops along the way. Once you arrive in Karibib, disembark at the main bus stop. From there, you can walk approximately 1 kilometer to the Okahandja-Karibib Rest Area (Rest Area9), which will be on your left when you approach the coordinates 3V86+2C.
