Car
If you are driving, head east on the B1 road from Otjiwarongo towards Tsumeb. After approximately 40 kilometers, look for the signs directing you to the Petrified Forest. Turn onto the C38 road and continue for about 25 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the Petrified Forest. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as there are limited fuel stations in the area.
Public Transportation
To reach the Petrified Forest by public transport, take a bus from Otjiwarongo to Tsumeb. Buses leave frequently from the main bus terminal. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Tsumeb, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange for a local shuttle to take you the remaining 25 kilometers to the Petrified Forest. Be sure to negotiate the fare with the taxi driver beforehand.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Otjiwarongo to the Petrified Forest. This option is more convenient but can be more expensive. The trip will take about 1 hour. It's advisable to agree on a fare before starting your journey. Expect to pay around 800 to 1000 Namibian Dollars for a one-way trip.
