Car
To reach Sperrgebiet from any location in Skeleton Coast, you will need to take the C34 road heading south. Drive for approximately 150 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the Sperrgebiet National Park. Note that a permit is required to enter the Sperrgebiet area, which can be obtained at the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Windhoek or at the park entrance. The permit may cost around 50 Namibian Dollars (NAD). After obtaining your permit, continue on the C34 for about 20 kilometers until you see signs for Sperrgebiet. There are limited amenities, so ensure you have sufficient fuel and supplies.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this remote area. However, you can take a bus from Swakopmund to Lüderitz, which is the closest town to the Sperrgebiet. From Lüderitz, you will need to hire a taxi or a local guide to take you to the Sperrgebiet entrance. Ensure to arrange this in advance, as transportation services may not be readily available. The bus fare from Swakopmund to Lüderitz can vary, but expect to pay around 300 NAD. Once in Lüderitz, the taxi fare to the Sperrgebiet entrance may cost another 200-300 NAD, depending on negotiation.
