Great Authentic Township Tour

Naftal was our excellent guide. He took us to 3 local Swakoplund homes. 1 lady was a herbalist. Another owned cattle and wore a hat shaped like cattle horns. The final lady owned a restaurant with better Wi-Fi than our ship. We were served caterpillars which are a local delicacy and a spinach dip and white bean dip and beer or water.. We ended our visit with a local men's A Capella group singing 4 beautiful songs for us. Dorothy from our group danced with a singer.

This was a very good experience if you want to learn about Namibia and get a brief overview of what is around Walvis Bay. The pick up at the cruise terminal was a little muddled as the guide we had been told to look out for wasn't the one we went with. We started off with another guide, changed and were then told we were doing a different tour. However, on a further check, this was rectified and we were really happy with the tour. Vincent is a wonderful young man who is passionate about his hometown and is a great ambassador for Namibia. We had a fabulous few hours and were very fortunate with our travelling companions. Thank you Vincent, and thank you too to Martina & John.

Informative and interesting cultural tour

Very informative tour of the local community including education on colonial history, tribal traditions, and conversations directly with community leaders. My favorite part was learning how to make the various click sounds common in the Damara language, something I didn't realize I could do! The tour includes stops at businesses, a community spaces like an art center, and a drive through the township plus explanations of its structure. I was pleased with the fact that the tour is lead by a local and a good portion of the tour cost is reinvested in the local township.
