Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, first make your way to the town of Jufal, which is the closest access point to Phoksundo Lake and the Aananda Shey Phoksundo Viewpoint. From Jufal, take the road leading to Suligad, which is approximately 15 kilometers. The road can be rough, so be prepared for a bumpy ride. Once you reach Suligad, you'll find parking available. From there, the viewpoint is a short hike away, so be sure to wear comfortable footwear.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, catch a local bus or jeep from Dolpo to Jufal, which may take around 6-8 hours depending on road conditions. Once in Jufal, you can either hire a local guide for the hike or join a group heading to the viewpoint. The hike itself will take about 1-2 hours, and be sure to bring water and snacks. The cost of the bus ride from Dolpo to Jufal is usually between 500 to 1000 NPR.

• Hiking

  After parking at Suligad or arriving in Jufal, you will need to hike to the Aananda Shey Phoksundo Viewpoint. The trail is well-marked and follows the river. It is advisable to take a local guide for safety and to enhance your experience. The hike will take approximately 1 to 2 hours, and the path can be steep in certain areas, so be prepared for a moderate trek.
