Car
From Juphal Airport, head southeast on the main road towards Dunai. The road is relatively well-maintained, but be cautious of occasional landslides. After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpo. Continue from Dunai towards the Shey Phoksundo National Park entrance, which is about 1.5 hours away. Upon arrival at the park entrance, be prepared to pay an entrance fee of around NPR 1,000 for foreign visitors. After entering the park, drive towards the Phoksundo Lake area; you will need to park your vehicle in the designated area. From there, it's a short trek of about 30 minutes to reach the Shey Phoksundo wooden bridge.
Public Transportation
Start your journey by taking a local bus from Juphal to Dunai. Buses are available in the morning and can take around 1 hour to reach Dunai. Once in Dunai, you will need to hire a local jeep or take another bus towards the Shey Phoksundo National Park entrance. This journey may take an additional 1.5 hours. Again, be ready to pay the entrance fee of approximately NPR 1,000 at the park entrance. After entering, you will need to hike for about 30 minutes to reach the Shey Phoksundo wooden bridge. Ensure you check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary.
Trekking
If you are already in the vicinity of Phoksundo Lake, you can trek directly to the Shey Phoksundo wooden bridge. The trek from Phoksundo Lake takes about 1 to 1.5 hours on foot. Follow the marked trails, and enjoy the stunning scenery along the way. Ensure you have appropriate trekking gear, as the trails can be rocky. If you hire a local guide, they can also provide insights and assistance along the route.
