Car
If you are driving from Kathmandu, head east on the Arniko Highway (also called the Kathmandu-Bhaktapur Highway). After approximately 40 km, take the turnoff to Sindhupalchowk District. Continue on the road until you reach the village of Melamchi. From Melamchi, follow the signs towards Helambu, specifically to Kiwool, which is where the Helambu Great Trail is located. You can park your car in designated areas in Kiwool.
Public Transportation
To reach Helambu Great Trail via public transportation, take a bus from the Ratna Park Bus Station in Kathmandu to Melamchi. The bus ride takes about 2-3 hours and costs around NPR 300-500. Once you arrive in Melamchi, you can either take a local jeep or continue by bus towards Kiwool. The jeep ride to Kiwool takes approximately 30 minutes and costs around NPR 150-300. Upon reaching Kiwool, you will find signage directing you to the trailhead of the Helambu Great Trail.
Trekking
Assuming you are already in the Helambu Trek area, you can access the Helambu Great Trail from various points in the region. If you are in the village of Thadepati, follow the trail markers leading west towards Kiwool. The trek will take about 2-3 hours. Make sure to carry sufficient water and snacks for the journey.
