Car
To reach Kanchenjunga Base Camp from Kathmandu, start by driving or taking a taxi to the bus terminal in Kathmandu. The main terminal is located at Ratnapark. From there, board a tourist bus heading to Taplejung. The journey takes approximately 12-14 hours, and you may need to stop for meals along the way. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as departures may vary. Once you arrive in Taplejung, it's advisable to hire a local guide or find a trekking agency to arrange transportation to the trek starting point.

Public Transportation
From Kathmandu, take a local bus or a microbus to the bus park at Ratnapark. Look for buses that are heading to Taplejung. The ticket price typically ranges from NPR 1,500 to NPR 2,000. Once you arrive in Taplejung, you can either walk or hire a jeep to take you to the trek starting point, which is usually at the village of Suketar, located about 20 minutes from Taplejung.

Once you reach Suketar, the trek begins from there. You will need to follow a well-marked trail that leads through lush forests and local villages. It's recommended to have a guide, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. The trek to Kanchenjunga Base Camp takes about 10-12 days depending on your pace and chosen route.

In Taplejung, you can find local jeeps that can take you to Suketar. The fare is usually around NPR 500-700 per person. Make sure to negotiate the price before you board.
