Getting There

Walking

From Bhaktapur Durbar Square, head east towards the main road leading out of the square. Continue straight onto the Baktapur-Kathmandu road (also known as the Araniko Highway). Walk for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the junction where the road forks. Take the right fork towards Boudhanath Stupa, following the signs. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will enter the Boudha area. The stupa will be visible as you approach, located on your left.

From Bhaktapur Durbar Square, walk to the nearest bus station, which is located near the square. Look for a bus heading towards Kathmandu and ask the driver if they stop at Boudhanath. The journey will take about 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Boudhanath bus stop, take a short 10-minute walk towards the stupa, which should be visible from a distance.
