Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from Kathmandu Valley to Everest Base Camp Trekking, start by heading east on the Ring Road towards Bhaktapur. Continue until you reach the town of Jiri, where you will need to park your car. From Jiri, the trek begins. Please note that there are no direct roads to Everest Base Camp; you will need to trek from Jiri or take a flight to Lukla first.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach Everest Base Camp by public transportation, take a local bus from Kathmandu to Jiri. Buses leave from the Bus Park in Kathmandu and the journey takes approximately 8-10 hours. Once in Jiri, you will need to start your trek towards Everest Base Camp. Alternatively, you can take a bus to Lukla, which is a more common route. From Jiri, the trek will take several days to reach base camp.

• Flight

  For a quicker option, you can take a domestic flight from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu to Lukla. Flights are available daily and take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Lukla, you will begin your trek to Everest Base Camp, which typically takes around 12-14 days, depending on your pace and itinerary.

• Trekking

  Regardless of your starting point (Jiri or Lukla), you will need to trek to reach Everest Base Camp. From Jiri, the trek will cover approximately 90 kilometers and can take around 7-10 days, while from Lukla, it is about 65 kilometers and typically takes 8-12 days. Make sure to prepare for altitude acclimatization during your trek.
