Walking
If you are starting from the center of Kathmandu, head towards the Ratna Park area. From there, walk towards the New Road, which is a major street in the city. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the Mahabouddha Temple. Turn right onto Mahabouddha Road and walk straight. You will pass through a bustling local market. Keep walking until you reach the intersection with Pulchowk Road. At this point, turn left and continue walking. Bhimsen Mandir is located on your right-hand side about a 10-minute walk from this intersection. Look for the distinct temple architecture as you approach.
Public Bus
From Thamel, take a local bus heading towards Patan. You can catch the bus from the bus stand near the Kathmandu Durbar Square. Inform the conductor that you wish to go to Patan, and they will direct you to the right vehicle. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Patan, disembark at Mangal Bazaar. From the bus stop, walk towards the Mangal Bazaar area. Bhimsen Mandir is located a short walk away, just follow the signs or ask locals for directions.
Cycle Rickshaw
You can hire a cycle rickshaw from any popular area in Kathmandu, such as Thamel or Durbar Square. Negotiate the fare before starting your ride. Tell the rickshaw driver that you want to go to Bhimsen Mandir in Lalitpur. The journey will take around 20-25 minutes depending on traffic. The rickshaw will take you through the bustling streets of Kathmandu, and you will be dropped off near the temple. From there, it’s just a short walk to the entrance of Bhimsen Mandir.
