Walking
If you are in the Thamel area, start by heading south towards the Ratna Park. From Ratna Park, take the road heading southeast towards the New Road area. Continue walking straight until you reach the Bagmati River. Cross the river using the bridges that connect you to the Patan area. Once you reach the other side, continue walking straight for about 15-20 minutes until you reach the Jawalakhel area. The Central Zoo will be located on your right side along Jawalakhel Rd.

Taxi
If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Kathmandu. Simply tell the driver 'Central Zoo, Jawalakhel'. Make sure to have the address written down in Nepali (जावलाखेल, चन्द्रागिरी) to show them if needed. The ride should take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. The taxi will drop you off right at the entrance of the zoo.

Public Bus
To reach Central Zoo using public transport, head to the nearest bus stop and catch a bus that goes to Lagankhel or Jawalakhel. Buses labeled with 'Lagankhel' will be your best option. Once on the bus, pay attention to the stops and disembark at the Lagankhel bus stop. From there, it's a short 5-10 minute walk towards Jawalakhel Rd. Just keep walking straight, and you will see the entrance to the zoo on your left.
