Bus
From the central bus station in Kathmandu, known as 'Kantipath', look for buses headed to 'Kulekhani'. Buses typically leave every hour. Make sure to confirm with the conductor that the bus will drop you off near the Kulekhani Hydropower Reservoir. The journey takes approximately 2 hours. Once you arrive at the Kulekhani area, you may need to walk or hire a local taxi for the final stretch to the reservoir itself.
Microbus
Head to the 'Ratna Park' area in Kathmandu, where you can find microbuses to Kulekhani. Look for a microbus with a sign indicating 'Kulekhani' or ask locals for assistance. The ride will take around 2 hours. After reaching the Kulekhani junction, you can either walk or take a local taxi to reach the hydropower reservoir.
Cycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Thamel. Head out of Thamel towards the Boudhanath Stupa, then follow the road towards Sankhu. Continue riding until you reach the road leading to Kulekhani. Please note that the journey is approximately 27 km and can take around 2-3 hours. Be cautious of traffic and steep hills along the way.
