Bus
From Thamel, walk to the bus stop on the main road and take a local bus heading to Bhaktapur. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Bhaktapur, ask the conductor to drop you off at Durbar Square. From the bus stop, it is a short 5-minute walk to the National Art Museum located within Durbar Square.
Microbus
Head to the microbus station in Thamel, where you can find microbuses that go to Bhaktapur. The journey will take around 30-45 minutes. Get off at the main square (Durbar Square) in Bhaktapur. The National Art Museum is a short 3-minute walk from the square. Simply follow the signs or ask locals for directions.
Rickshaw
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a rickshaw from Thamel to Bhaktapur. Negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 1000-1500 NPR. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. The rickshaw will drop you off near Durbar Square, from which the National Art Museum is just a 5-minute walk.
Walking
If you are staying nearby in Bhaktapur, simply navigate to Durbar Square, which is the central square of the city. The National Art Museum is located at MCCH+W55, just a few steps away from the square. Look for signs indicating the museum's entrance.
