Car
If you are driving, start from the nearest major city, Biratnagar. Take the East-West Highway (Mahendra Highway) and head west towards Itahari. Once you reach Itahari, continue on the highway until you see signs for the Koshi Highway (also known as the Koshi Bridge Road). Follow the Koshi Highway until you reach the town of Tandi. Chuli Pokhari is located near Tandi, specifically at the coordinates QMP5+G2J, Tandi 56600. You can use GPS navigation for more precise directions.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Biratnagar to Itahari. Buses run frequently throughout the day, and the fare is usually around NPR 200-300. From Itahari, catch a local bus or a microbus heading towards Tandi. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they will be stopping at Tandi. The cost for this leg of the journey will be approximately NPR 100-150. Once you arrive in Tandi, it’s a short hike of about 1 hour to reach Chuli Pokhari, following local paths towards the landmark.
Hiking
After arriving in Tandi, you will need to hike to Chuli Pokhari. From the bus stop, ask locals for directions to the starting point of the hike. The hike is well-marked and takes around 1 hour. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water. The terrain can be uneven, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. This part of the journey is free, but you might want to bring some cash for snacks or local guides if needed.
