If you are starting from Kathmandu, you can take a tourist bus to Soti Khola, which usually takes about 8 to 10 hours. Buses leave early in the morning from various locations in Kathmandu. From Soti Khola, you will need to take a local jeep or trek to Machha Khola, then continue your journey to Jagat and finally to Samagaun. The total cost for the bus from Kathmandu to Soti Khola is around NPR 1,500 to NPR 2,000, and local transportation to Samagaun can range from NPR 1,000 to NPR 2,000 depending on the mode of transport and availability.
Trekking from Samagaun to Birendra Lake
Once you reach Samagaun, Birendra Lake is approximately a 3 to 4-hour trek from the village. From Samagaun, follow the trail that leads towards the north, passing through beautiful landscapes and small streams. The path is well-marked, but it's advisable to hire a local guide if you're unfamiliar with trekking in the region. The trek is relatively easy, but be prepared for some steep sections.
