Getting There

    From Kathmandu, drive to Arughat Bazar. This journey takes about 7 to 8 hours. Once in Arughat, park your car in a safe location. From Arughat, you will need to take a local jeep or a bus to Soti Khola, which takes approximately 1 hour. After reaching Soti Khola, start your trek towards Machha Khola, which is a 6 to 7 hour hike. Continue your trek until you reach Jagat, and then proceed to Philim. The trek from Philim to Samagaun takes about 4 to 5 hours. Once in Samagaun, follow the signs to Pung Gyen Gompa, which is approximately a 3-hour hike from the village.

    Begin your journey from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazar by taking a tourist bus, which typically departs early in the morning and takes about 8 hours. The bus fare ranges from NPR 800 to NPR 1500.
