Getting There

Walking
Start from the Patan Durbar Square, which is a central point in Patan. Head north towards the main road that leads you out of Patan. Continue walking straight for about 15-20 minutes until you reach the border of Patan. As you approach the border, you will see signs indicating the direction to Kathmandu. Once you cross the border into Kathmandu, continue straight for another 10 minutes. You will pass by various shops and local eateries. After about 10 minutes, you will reach Hanuman Dhoka, which will be on your right. Look for the distinctive architecture and the main entrance.

Walking
Another option is to walk from the Patan Museum. Exit the museum and head towards the main square of Patan. From there, take the path that leads towards the southeast exit of the square. This will take you to the road that leads to Kathmandu. Walk straight for approximately 25 minutes. You will pass the local markets and see many shops along the way. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards Hanuman Dhoka. After 25 minutes, you will arrive at Hanuman Dhoka, which is easily recognizable.

If you prefer to use public transport, you can catch a local microbus or a tempo from the Patan Durbar Square heading towards Kathmandu. Look for buses that have signage indicating 'New Road' or 'Kathmandu'. The ride will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the 'New Road' stop, which is one of the main commercial areas in Kathmandu. From there, walk north for about 10 minutes, and you will arrive at Hanuman Dhoka, which is a well-known landmark. The walk is straightforward, with various signs directing you towards Hanuman Dhoka.
