Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city in Province No. 2, which is Janakpur. Head southeast on the Janakpur-Bardibas road. After approximately 36 km, continue onto the Bardibas-Dharan road. You will then take a left turn onto the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve road, which is well signposted. The reserve is located at M222+J79, Bairawa 56713, approximately 22 km from the Bardibas junction. The total driving distance from Janakpur to the reserve is about 60 km and may take around 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Ensure to have some cash for potential parking fees.

  • Public Transportation (Bus)

    To reach the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve via public transportation, take a bus from Janakpur to Biratnagar, which is a common route. The journey will take about 2 hours. Once you arrive at Biratnagar, you can take another local bus or a taxi to Bairawa, which is approximately 30 km from Biratnagar and will take about 1 hour.
