Travel Guide to Ramaroshan Lake

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the city of Dhangadhi, which is the nearest major city. From Dhangadhi, take the Mahakali Highway (also known as the Dhangadhi-Mahendranagar road) heading west. Continue on this road for approximately 70 kilometers until you reach the town of Mahendranagar. From Mahendranagar, follow the signs to the Ramaroshan Lake area. The lake is roughly 30 kilometers from Mahendranagar, and you will need to take a smaller local road that leads into the hills. The road may be unpaved and winding, so drive cautiously. There are also several scenic spots along the way where you can stop for photos.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, begin your journey at the Dhangadhi bus station. You can catch a local bus heading towards Mahendranagar. The fare is typically around NPR 200-300. The bus ride will take about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Mahendranagar, you can take a local microbus or jeep to Ramaroshan Lake. The fare for this leg is usually around NPR 150-250, and the journey takes about an hour. Ensure to confirm with the driver that they are heading to Ramaroshan Lake. Be prepared for a bumpy ride as the road conditions may vary.

• Hiking

  If you are adventurous and enjoy hiking, you can also consider walking from Mahendranagar to Ramaroshan Lake. Start from the town center and follow the local paths that lead into the hills. This hike is approximately 10 kilometers and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. It may take around 3-4 hours on foot. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and carry water and snacks with you, as the path can be steep and challenging in some areas.
