Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from any location in the Western Development Region, head towards Kathmandu. Use the Prithvi Highway (also known as the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway) which connects major cities to Kathmandu. Once you reach Kathmandu, follow signs to the Basantapur area. There are several parking options near Kathmandu Durbar Square, but be prepared for limited space and possible parking fees, typically around NPR 50-100 per hour.

• Public Bus

  From major towns in the Western Development Region, take a public bus heading to Kathmandu. Buses frequently depart from stations in Pokhara, Bandipur, and other towns. The bus ride to Kathmandu can take approximately 6-8 hours depending on traffic. Once in Kathmandu, disembark at the Ratna Park bus station. From there, it's a short 15-minute walk to Kathmandu Durbar Square. Just head east on Ratna Park Road, then turn left onto Bhaktapur Durbar Square Road.

• Taxi

  You can hire a taxi from any major town in the Western Development Region directly to Kathmandu. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around NPR 3000-5000 depending on your starting point. Once in Kathmandu, you can ask the taxi driver to take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is a recognizable landmark.

• Motorbike

  If you prefer riding, you can rent a motorbike in towns like Pokhara. Follow the same route via the Prithvi Highway to Kathmandu. Once you arrive in the city, park at designated parking areas near Kathmandu Durbar Square. Be mindful of the traffic and narrow roads.
