If you are near the Dam Square, head south towards the Rokin street. Continue walking on Rokin until you reach the intersection with Muntplein. Turn left onto Muntplein, and you will see the Munttoren on your right at Muntplein 12/14.

Take tram line 4, 9, 16, or 24 from any central tram stop (like Centraal Station). Get off at the 'Muntplein' stop. Once you exit the tram, the Munttoren will be directly in front of you.
