Car
If you're traveling by car, the Hart van Drenthe is located in Elp, Drenthe. From Assen, take the N33 highway southbound. Merge onto the N34 towards Emmen. After about 20 km, take the exit for Elp. Follow the signs towards Elp and then to the nature reserve, which is well-marked. There is parking available near the entrance. Please note that parking may incur a fee, typically around €2-€5 depending on the duration of your stay.
Public Transportation
To reach Hart van Drenthe via public transportation, start by taking a train to Assen from your location. Once in Assen, transfer to bus line 21 towards Elp. The bus will take you directly to Elp. After arriving at the Elp stop, follow the signs directing you to the Hart van Drenthe nature reserve, which is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as services may be limited on weekends and public holidays.
Bicycle
Biking to Hart van Drenthe is a lovely option if you're nearby. There are designated bike paths leading from surrounding towns like Assen or Emmen. From Assen, take the bike path along the N33, then follow local cycling routes towards Elp. The nature reserve has bike racks available for parking. Ensure you have a good map or GPS as some paths may not be well-marked.
