If you are driving, start from Leeuwarden, the capital of Friesland. Take the N31 highway towards Heerenveen, then merge onto the A32 towards Zwolle. Take exit 12 for N334 towards Giethoorn. Follow the signs for Giethoorn. As you enter the village, look for parking signs; there are several parking areas available at the entrance of Giethoorn. Note that the village is car-free, so you will need to walk or rent a boat to explore further.

To reach Giethoorn by public transport, start at Leeuwarden train station. Take a train to Steenwijk, which takes about 30 minutes. From Steenwijk, transfer to bus line 70 (or line 75 during weekends), which will take you directly to Giethoorn. The bus ride is approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at the Giethoorn bus stop, you can walk into the village center. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance as it may vary.
