Getting There

• Train

  Start your journey from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Purchase a train ticket to Almere Haven at the ticket counter or use the NS app. Once you have your ticket, head to the platform for trains heading towards Lelystad or Almere. The journey takes about 20-25 minutes. Get off at Almere Haven station. From the station, exit and turn right onto Spoordok. Walk straight until you reach the end of the street, then turn left onto de Stichtse Kade. Continue walking until you see Fort Ruigenhoek on your left.

• Bus

  From Amsterdam, head to the nearest bus stop that services routes towards Almere. You can catch bus number 320 or 322 from various locations including Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station. Ensure you check the schedule as buses run at specific intervals. The bus journey lasts approximately 30-40 minutes. Disembark at Almere Haven, and then walk straight towards the waterfront. Follow the path along the water, and Fort Ruigenhoek will be on your right side.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Amsterdam. Start by cycling towards the IJmeer, following the cycle paths that lead to Almere. The distance is around 25 kilometers and will take approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on your cycling speed. Once you arrive in Almere, continue along the waterfront until you reach Fort Ruigenhoek, which will be easily visible.
