From Haarlem, head to Haarlem Station. You can walk there from the city center in about 15 minutes. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Amsterdam Central Station. The train ride takes about 15-20 minutes. After you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head towards the main exit. Once outside, you will see Dam Square directly in front of you, just a 10-15 minute walk away.

From Haarlem, you can take bus line 300 towards Amsterdam. Board the bus at the Haarlem bus station, which is located near the city center. The bus ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Amsterdam, Sloterdijk' and transfer to tram line 12 or 14 towards Amsterdam Central Station. From there, it's a short walk to Dam Square, which is about 10 minutes away.
