Train
From Haarlem, head to Haarlem Station. You can walk there from the city center in about 15 minutes. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Amsterdam Central Station. The train ride takes about 15-20 minutes. After you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head towards the main exit. Once outside, you will see Dam Square directly in front of you, just a 10-15 minute walk away.
Bus
From Haarlem, you can take bus line 300 towards Amsterdam. Board the bus at the Haarlem bus station, which is located near the city center. The bus ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Amsterdam, Sloterdijk' and transfer to tram line 12 or 14 towards Amsterdam Central Station. From there, it's a short walk to Dam Square, which is about 10 minutes away.
Bicycle
If you prefer riding a bicycle, you can rent one from various bike rental shops in Haarlem. Follow the designated bike paths towards Amsterdam, which is about a 40-minute ride. Once you reach Amsterdam, continue towards the city center and follow the signs to Dam Square. The area is bike-friendly, and you'll find plenty of places to lock your bike near the square.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk from Haarlem to Amsterdam, which is approximately 20 km (12 miles). Start at the city center and follow the N208 road towards Amsterdam. This will take you through some beautiful Dutch landscapes. It should take around 4-5 hours, so wear comfortable shoes and consider taking breaks along the way. Once in Amsterdam, follow signs for the city center to reach Dam Square.
