Start at the main square, Grote Markt, in Haarlem. From Grote Markt, head east on the Klokhuisstraat towards the Zijlstraat. Continue straight until you reach the Zijlweg, then turn left. Follow Zijlweg for about 10 minutes until you reach the train station, Haarlem Centraal. Take the train to Amsterdam, which should take around 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal Station, exit the station and head southwest on Prins Hendrikkade towards the Damrak. Continue straight until you reach the Dam Square, then head west on the Rokin. After a short walk, you will arrive at Leidseplein, which is a bustling square filled with restaurants and entertainment.

From Haarlem, make your way to Haarlem Centraal Station, which is well-signposted from most points in the city. Once at the station, purchase a train ticket to Amsterdam (make sure to check the train schedules). The journey will take approximately 20 minutes. Upon arrival at Amsterdam Centraal Station, follow the signs to the tram station located just outside the main entrance. Take tram line 1, 2, or 5 in the direction of Leidseplein. The tram ride will take about 15 minutes. Get off at the Leidseplein stop, and you will find yourself in the lively square.
