Walking
From the center of Haarlem, head towards the Haarlem Railway Station (Haarlem CS). Once you arrive at the station, purchase a ticket for a train to Amsterdam. Trains to Amsterdam Centraal leave frequently, so check the schedule on the departure board. The journey will take about 15-20 minutes. Upon arrival at Amsterdam Centraal, exit the station and walk towards the tram stop located just outside the station. Take tram line 2 or 12 in the direction of 'Amsterdam-Zuid'. After a short ride of about 10 minutes, get off at the 'Museumplein' stop. From there, it's a short walk to the Rijksmuseum. Follow the signs directing you to the museum. The entrance is located at Museumstraat 1.
Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Haarlem. Start your journey by cycling towards Amsterdam, following the dedicated bike paths. The route is approximately 20 km and will take around 1 hour. As you approach Amsterdam, follow the signs to the city center and continue towards Museumplein. Once you arrive, find a bike parking area near the Rijksmuseum, located at Museumstraat 1.
Public Transport
To reach the Rijksmuseum using public transport, walk to Haarlem Railway Station (Haarlem CS). Purchase a ticket for a direct train to Amsterdam Centraal. The travel time is about 15-20 minutes. After arriving at Amsterdam Centraal, follow the signs to the tram station outside the train station. Board tram line 2 or 12 towards 'Amsterdam-Zuid' and ride for about 10 minutes, getting off at the 'Museumplein' stop. From there, follow the signs to the Rijksmuseum entrance at Museumstraat 1.
