Walking
If you're starting from the central square of Haarlem, the Grote Markt, head east towards the Zijlstraat. Walk down Zijlstraat until you reach the intersection with the Gedempte Oude Gracht. Turn left onto Gedempte Oude Gracht and continue walking until you reach the end of the street. From there, turn right onto the Zijlweg and follow it as it curves to the left. Keep walking straight until you reach the Haarlem train station. Once you reach the train station, head to the bus or train platforms and take a train heading to Amsterdam. The train journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head southeast towards the Damrak street. Continue walking straight until you reach Rokin, which is just a few minutes away. You will see various shops and cafes along the way.
Public Transport
From Haarlem, take the train from Haarlem station to Amsterdam Central Station. Trains run frequently, and the journey takes about 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, follow the signs to exit the station. Once outside, head southeast towards Damrak. Walk straight along Damrak until you reach the Rokin area. It’s an easy stroll from the station, and you can enjoy the sights along the way.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in Haarlem. Start from the city center and head towards the station. Follow the cycling path that leads to Amsterdam, which is well-marked and safe for cyclists. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. As you approach Amsterdam, follow the signs towards the city center and Rokin. There are bike racks available near Rokin for you to lock your bike.
