Walking
Start at the Haarlem train station. Exit the station and head towards the city center, following the signs for the 'Centrum'. Walk straight down the Spoorwegplein until you reach the Grote Markt. Once you arrive at the Grote Markt, you will see the impressive St. Bavokerk (Bavo Church) on your left. From the church, continue walking straight to the Zijlstraat, which will lead you to the main shopping area. Keep walking until you reach the end of Zijlstraat and turn left onto the Smedestraat. Follow Smedestraat until it intersects with the Barteljorisstraat. Turn right onto Barteljorisstraat. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with the Kruisstraat, then turn left. Follow this street until you reach the main square. Sluishuis is located in Amsterdam, so you will need to take a train from Haarlem to Amsterdam Central Station. From there, walk towards the Sluishuis, which is a short distance away.
Train
From Haarlem Station, purchase a ticket to Amsterdam Central Station. The journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head towards the IJ river. Walk towards the northern side of the station, where you will find a pathway leading along the water. Continue walking along the water until you reach the Sluishuis, which will be visible as you approach.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in Haarlem. Start by heading out of the city through the Spaarne River. Follow the bike paths along the river towards Amsterdam. The scenic route will take you through beautiful landscapes and parks. Upon reaching Amsterdam, follow the signs to the IJ river, and you will find Sluishuis located nearby.
