Walking
If you are in the heart of Haarlem, start at the Grote Markt (the main square). Head east on the Grote Houtstraat. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with the Spaarne River. Turn left onto the Spaarne and follow it for about 500 meters. You will see the signs for the train station. At the station, catch a train to Leiden. The train ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Once you arrive in Leiden, exit the station and walk towards Kruitschip, which is about a 10-minute walk. Exit the station and turn right on Stationsweg, then take a left on Breestraat. Continue straight until you reach the park.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Haarlem. Start your journey from the center of Haarlem and cycle towards the Spaarne River. Follow the river south until you reach the train station. From there, you can take a train to Leiden, which takes about 15 minutes. After arriving in Leiden, follow the directions from the train station to Van der Werf Park, which is about a 10-minute ride from the station. Simply head east on Stationsweg, then left on Breestraat until you reach Kruitschip.
Public Transport
Take bus number 300 from Haarlem bus station. The bus runs frequently and will take you directly to Leiden. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Leiden bus station, you can walk to Van der Werf Park. Exit the bus station and walk east on Stationsweg, then take a left on Breestraat. Continue straight until you arrive at Kruitschip, where the park is located.
