Walking
If you're starting from the center of Haarlem, head towards the main square, Grote Markt. From there, exit the square onto the Zijlstraat and walk straight until you reach the intersection with the Korte Spaarne canal. Turn left onto Korte Spaarne and follow it until you reach the bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight, which will lead you to the train station, Haarlem Centraal. Once at the station, take a train towards Alkmaar. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Alkmaar station, exit and walk straight down the station's main exit. Turn right onto the Hoefijzerstraat and continue until you reach the Vismarkt, which is a short 10-minute walk from the station.
Public Transport
Start your journey at Haarlem Centraal train station. You can take a direct train to Alkmaar from here, which runs frequently. Check the departure board for the next train heading towards Alkmaar, and board it. After about 30 minutes, you will arrive at Alkmaar station. Once you exit the station, you can either walk or take a local bus (Bus 4 or 5) heading to the city center. If you choose to walk, head straight down Hoefijzerstraat from the station, and Vismarkt will be about a 10-minute walk ahead.
