Getting there

Walking

From Utrecht Central Station, exit onto Stationsplein and head towards the bus station. Follow the signs for Bus 120 towards Amsterdam. Once you board the bus, enjoy the scenic ride, which takes about 45 minutes to Amsterdam. After arriving at Amsterdam, disembark at the Westermarkt stop. From there, walk towards Westermarkt 6. You’ll see the Descartes House as you approach the square; it's a short 5-minute walk.

Train

At Utrecht Central Station, purchase a ticket for a train heading to Amsterdam Central Station. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and walk towards the tram stop. Board Tram 1 or Tram 2 towards the direction of 'Amsterdam, Westermarkt'. Get off at the Westermarkt stop. The Descartes House is located at Westermarkt 6, just a minute's walk from the tram stop.

Bicycle

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle at one of the bike rental services near Utrecht Central Station. Follow the designated bike paths towards Amsterdam, which is about 40 km away. The route is marked and generally safe for cyclists. Once you reach the Westermarkt area in Amsterdam, park your bike at the nearest bike rack, and you’ll find the Descartes House at Westermarkt 6, just a short walk from where you park.
