Walking
From the city center of Leiden, head towards the Leiden Central Station (Leiden Centraal) which is located to the north of the city center. Once you are at the station, take a train to Amsterdam Central Station. The train journey will take approximately 35 minutes. After arriving at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head west towards the Damrak. Continue straight along Damrak, which will lead you to the main canals of Amsterdam. Follow the signs to the Grachtengordel-West area, which is just a short walk from the station. Look for the canals on your left; you will soon find yourself in the picturesque Grachtengordel-West area.

Bicycle
If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in Leiden. Start by heading north towards the city outskirts and follow the bike paths towards Amsterdam. The route will take you through beautiful Dutch countryside and small villages. The bike ride to Amsterdam takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Once you reach Amsterdam, follow the signs to the city center and Grachtengordel-West area, where you can park your bike at designated bike racks.

From Leiden, make your way to Leiden Central Station. At the station, buy a ticket to Amsterdam Central Station. Trains run frequently, so check the timetable for the next departure, which will usually be within 15 minutes. After approximately 35 minutes on the train, you will arrive at Amsterdam Central Station. Upon exiting the station, take tram line 2 or 5 towards the Museumplein. Get off at the 'Leidseplein' stop. From there, it’s a short walk to the Grachtengordel-West area. Look for the canals and follow the signs directing you towards the west side of the city.
