Bicycle
From the center of Leiden, head north towards the Vrouwensteeg. Continue straight onto the Lammenschansweg. Follow the signs for the A44 highway, and once you reach the junction, take the bike path that leads you towards Amsterdam. Ride along the scenic route through the countryside for about 40 kilometers until you arrive in Amsterdam. Once in Amsterdam, navigate towards the Westerpark area by following the local bike lanes, which will lead you directly to the park.
Train
Start at Leiden Centraal train station. Purchase a ticket to Amsterdam Centraal. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal, exit the station and head towards the tram stop located outside the station. Take tram line 10 towards 'Zuid' and get off at the 'Haarlemmerplein' stop. From there, walk northwest along the Haarlemmerweg until you reach Westerpark, which is just a short 10-minute walk away.
Bus
From the Leiden city center, walk to the nearest bus stop at 'Leiden, Breestraat'. Take bus line 43 towards 'Amsterdam Sloterdijk'. The bus ride will take about 45 minutes. Get off at the 'Haarlemmerweg' stop. From there, it's a short 15-minute walk to Westerpark. Just head east on Haarlemmerweg until you reach the park.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, you can take a scenic route through nature. Start from the center of Leiden and head north towards the Singelpark. Follow the park path along the canal and continue straight until you reach the outskirts. From there, you can follow walking paths that lead northwards through the countryside towards Amsterdam. This walk might take several hours, but it offers beautiful views and a unique experience.
