Walking
Start from the center of Leiden at the Beestenmarkt square. Head south towards the Breestraat. Continue straight until you reach the Sint Pieterskerk, a large church on your left. From there, turn right onto the Herengracht and follow it until you reach the intersection with the Oude Singel. Turn left onto the Oude Singel and continue walking until you see the entrance to the city center. Once you're in the city center, look for signs directing you to Amsterdam. The journey from Leiden to Amsterdam typically takes about 30-40 minutes by foot.
Train
From Leiden Central Station, purchase a ticket to Amsterdam Central Station. Trains run frequently, approximately every 10-15 minutes. Board the train heading towards Amsterdam, which will take about 35 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central, exit the station and follow the signs for the city center. Head towards the Dam Square, and from there, you can easily reach the Blauwbrug by walking south along the Amstel river.
Bicycle
If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle from various rental shops in Leiden. Head out of the city center onto the N11 road towards Amsterdam. The bike ride is approximately 40-50 minutes. Follow the bike lane signs leading you through the scenic Dutch countryside. Once you arrive in Amsterdam, follow the signs towards the city center and navigate to the Blauwbrug located near the Amstel river.
Bus
From the Leiden bus station, take bus line 43 towards Amsterdam. The bus ride typically lasts about 40-50 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Amsterdam bus station, walk towards the city center, following the signs to Dam Square. From Dam Square, it's a short walk to the Blauwbrug, located over the Amstel river.
