Walking
To reach Koningsplein in Amsterdam from Leiden, start by heading to Leiden Central Station (Leiden Centraal). Once at the station, take the Intercity train towards Amsterdam Central (Amsterdam Centraal). The journey takes about 35 minutes. Upon arrival at Amsterdam Central Station, follow the signs to the exit. Once you exit the station, head towards the main street (Damrak) that leads to Dam Square (Dam). Walk straight down Damrak, which will lead you directly to Dam Square. From Dam Square, turn left onto Rokin and continue walking for about 10 minutes until you reach Koningsplein. The square will be on your right-hand side, and you will see the beautiful green space and surrounding buildings.
Bicycle
If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bike in Leiden. Start from the city center and follow the designated bike paths towards Amsterdam. The most common route is via the A44 highway, which connects to the N206, leading directly to Amsterdam. The cycling distance is approximately 36 kilometers and may take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Once you arrive in Amsterdam, follow the signs to the city's center and Koningsplein, which is easily accessible by bike. Make sure to park your bike at designated bike racks near the square.
Bus
To get to Koningsplein by bus from Leiden, start at the nearest bus stop to your location. You will need to take a bus that goes to Amsterdam. The most direct route may involve taking bus number 2 or 4 to Amsterdam, which will take approximately 50 minutes. Upon arrival at the Amsterdam bus station, from there you can walk towards Dam Square. Follow the same walking directions as mentioned earlier: Walk down Rokin until you reach Koningsplein, which will be on your right.
