If you are in the center of Leiden, the easiest way to reach Amsterdam is to take a train from Leiden Centraal Station. Head to the station by following the signs to the main train station, which is located about 10-15 minutes on foot from the city center. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Amsterdam Centraal. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. After arriving at Amsterdam Centraal, exit the station and you will see the city around you. From there, you can take tram 26 towards 'Zuid', and get off at 'Amsterdam, Pontsteiger' stop. The Pontsteiger will be a short walk from the tram stop.
Bicycle
To reach Pontsteiger from Leiden by bicycle, start by heading north towards the N206. Follow the bike lanes and signs towards Amsterdam, which will take you through beautiful countryside and along waterways. Upon arriving in Amsterdam, navigate towards the city center using the bike lanes. Once you reach the area near the Westerpark, head towards 'Haarlemmerweg', and follow it until you reach 'Pontsteiger'. It should take about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace.

From any location in Leiden, make your way to Leiden Centraal Station. Board a train heading to Amsterdam Centraal Station, which is a direct route taking roughly 30 minutes. After you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal, exit the station and look for tram lines. Take tram 26 towards 'Zuid' and get off at the 'Amsterdam, Pontsteiger' stop. This will put you very close to your destination.
