Getting There

  • Walking

    To reach the Rembrandt Monument from the city center of Leiden, start at the Leiden Central Station. Head southeast on Stationsplein toward Stationsweg. Continue straight onto the Nieuweweg, then turn left onto the Hooigracht. Follow the Hooigracht until you reach the Breestraat. Turn right on Breestraat, and stroll until you reach the market square, known as the Markt. From here, you can either take a bus or train to Amsterdam, or continue walking to the bus terminal. If you choose to take public transportation, catch a train to Amsterdam Central Station, which takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, exit and take tram number 14 toward Zeeburg. Get off at the 'Rembrandtplein' stop, and the Rembrandt Monument will be just a short walk from there.

    If you prefer public transportation, first make your way to Leiden Central Station. From there, take a train to Amsterdam Central Station, which runs frequently and takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, follow the signs to the tram station located right outside the station. Board tram line 14 toward Zeeburg and ride for about 10 stops. Disembark at the 'Rembrandtplein' stop. The Rembrandt Monument will be directly in front of you as you exit the tram.
