Walking
From the Leiden Central Station, head south on Stationsweg toward the center of the city. Continue straight until you reach the first major intersection, which is Breestraat. Turn left onto Breestraat and continue walking until you reach the large square, known as the Beestenmarkt. From there, continue straight onto the Haarlemmerstraat. Keep walking until you reach the intersection with the Nieuwe Rijn. Turn right onto the Nieuwe Rijn and walk towards the center of the city. Follow the street until you reach a bridge, which will lead you across the canal. Continue walking straight until you reach the main canal, where you can find the Torensluis. The journey should take you approximately 25-30 minutes.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops near Leiden Central Station. From the station, exit onto Stationsweg and turn left. Proceed straight until you reach the Breestraat, turn left, and cycle straight to the Beestenmarkt. From there, continue onto the Haarlemmerstraat and then turn right onto the Nieuwe Rijn. Follow this route until you reach the Torensluis. The bicycle ride is approximately 15 minutes.
Public Transport
To reach Amsterdam from Leiden, you can take a train from Leiden Central Station to Amsterdam Central Station. Trains run frequently throughout the day. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head south toward the Damrak. Continue walking straight until you reach the Rokin. Turn left at the Rokin and continue walking until you reach the Torensluis, which is located near the Amstel River. The total travel time, including the train journey and walking, should take about 1 hour.
