Train
From Rotterdam Central Station, purchase a ticket to The Hague. Take the train towards The Hague, which will take about 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive at The Hague Central Station, exit the station and head towards the main exit. Turn left and walk towards the tram stop located just outside the station.
Tram
At the tram stop outside The Hague Central Station, look for tram line 1 or 9. Board the tram heading towards 'Scheveningen' (for line 1) or 'Laan van Meerdervoort' (for line 9). Ride for about 5-10 minutes, and get off at the 'Plein' stop. From the tram stop, walk straight ahead for a couple of minutes until you reach the Independence Monument located at Plein 1813.
Walking
If you prefer walking from The Hague Central Station, exit the station and head southwest on Anna Paulownastraat. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Buitenhof. Turn right onto Buitenhof, and then take a left onto Plein 1813. The Independence Monument will be at the end of the square.
