Car
If you're driving to Dekemastate from anywhere in the Wadden Islands, start by heading towards the mainland. Use the N31 road heading southeast. Continue on this road until you reach the exit for the A32 towards Heerenveen. Follow the A32 for approximately 20 kilometers, then take the exit for the N355 towards Leeuwarden. Stay on the N355 for about 10 kilometers until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit to stay on the N355, which will lead you into the town of Jelsum. Look for Dekemawei street; Dekemastate is located at Dekemawei 5, 9057 LC Jelsum. There is no entrance fee for Dekemastate, but parking may be limited in the area.
Public Transportation
To reach Dekemastate via public transport, start by taking a bus from your location to Leeuwarden. Bus services like Qbuzz operate in the area. Once you arrive in Leeuwarden, head to the Leeuwarden bus station. From there, take bus line 68 towards Jelsum. This bus will take you directly to Jelsum. After arriving at Jelsum, it’s about a 10-minute walk to Dekemastate located at Dekemawei 5. Make sure to check the bus schedules beforehand as they can vary, especially on weekends.
