If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to Zaandam. From the main road (A8), take the exit towards Zaandam. Follow the signs leading to the city center. Once in Zaandam, look for Hanenpadsloot street. The Hanenpad lock is located at the end of this street. There is free street parking available nearby, but please check for any parking signs to avoid fines.

Train and Walk

For those using public transportation, take a train to Zaandam station. From Amsterdam, trains run frequently and the journey takes about 20 minutes. Upon arrival at Zaandam station, exit the station and head south towards the city center. Once you reach the main road (Westerstraat), turn left and walk straight until you reach Hanenpadsloot. The Hanenpad lock is at the end of this street. The walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes.

Bus

Alternatively, you can take a bus to reach Hanenpad lock. From Zaandam train station, board bus number 64 towards 'Krommenie'. Get off at the 'Hanenpad' stop. From there, it's a short walk to Hanenpadsloot. Cross the street and walk straight until you reach the lock. This option is convenient and should take about 10 minutes from the bus stop to the lock.
