Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From the Carson City downtown area, walk to the nearest bus stop on Carson Street. Take the Douglas Route (Route 19) towards Stateline. Stay on the bus until you reach the Stateline stop. From there, transfer to the South Lake Tahoe route (Route 50). This bus will take you towards South Lake Tahoe. Once you arrive in South Lake Tahoe, get off at the stop closest to CA-89. From there, it’s about a 20-minute walk along CA-89 to D. L. Bliss State Park.

  • Bicycle Rental

    If you prefer cycling, there are several bicycle rental shops in Carson City. Rent a bike and head east on 5th Street, which turns into Highway 50. Follow the bike path until you reach the junction with Highway 89. Take a right onto Highway 89 and follow it north until you reach D. L. Bliss State Park. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay aware of traffic.

  • Walking

    If you are up for a long hike, you can walk from Carson City to D. L. Bliss State Park. Start on Carson Street heading north, then follow 5th Street which eventually turns into Highway 50. Walk along the highway until you reach the junction with Highway 89, then turn right onto Highway 89. Continue walking north for about 14 miles.
