From downtown Carson City, walk to the nearest bus stop on Carson St at 5th St. Board the 'Virginia City' bus (Route 1) that takes you directly to Virginia City. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to C St. Walk north on C St for about 5 minutes until you reach The Way It Was Museum at 113 C St.

Rent a bicycle from a local rental shop in Carson City. Head north on Carson St, then take a right onto 5th St, which becomes NV-341 as you leave the city.
