Car
If you're driving from anywhere in Central Nevada, head east on US-50 E (the 'Loneliest Road in America'). Continue for about 130 miles until you reach the junction with I-80. Merge onto I-80 E and proceed for approximately 90 miles. Take exit 303 for Elko, and turn left onto NV-227 N. Follow this road until you reach the California Trail Interpretive Center, located at 1 Interpretive Center Way, Elko, NV 89801. Parking is available on-site.
Public Transportation
There is limited public transportation in Central Nevada, but you can catch a Greyhound bus to Elko. Once you arrive at the Elko Greyhound station, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to the California Trail Interpretive Center, as it is approximately 3 miles away from the bus station. Expect taxi fares to be around $10-$15.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, biking from Elko to the California Trail Interpretive Center is an option. Starting from downtown Elko, head south on Idaho Street and follow the signs for the Interpretive Center. The distance is approximately 3 miles, and the route is mostly on paved roads. Be aware of traffic and wear appropriate safety gear.
